meet the team
My name is Lauren Bergoon, and I have lived in Mobile, Alabama most of my life. My husband John and I have been married for 16 years, and we have two precious children, Mason and Ava. Some of our favorite hobbies include traveling, cooking, and spending time with our pups, Birdie and Rosie.
I grew up with a family in the “swim business.” My parents own and operate a recreational swim club, as well as a year round competitive swim team. I have worked as a swim instructor alongside my father since I was 16 years old. Over the years, I have taught many different ages and skill levels from beginner to competitive. I also teach and oversee all stroke lessons at our swim school, the West Mobile Marlins.
In 2016, I was introduced to Infant Swim Resource. The program opened my eyes to a new world of drowning preventions and by 2018, I had decided to stretch my skill set as an instructor. After months of research and prayer, I knew that this certification would allow me to offer the safest and most effective lessons to our community. I believe that starting lessons early and setting up layers of protection can help keep our children safe. Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death in the United States for children ages one to four. Drowning is PREVENTABLE, and I am here to help parents in that effort!
Teaching my students is a joy and a privilege. I am so grateful to do a job that I feel called to do and that brings so much purpose to my life.
My name is Heather Walther, as I have been a Mobile resident since age seven. I am obsessed with anything that highlights the draw of living near the coast. Being a mom of three active daughters and living near or around some body of water I was eager to equip them with life saving aquatic skills. Finding ISR at West Mobile Baby Fish was an invaluable gift to my children and just so happened to jumpstart the inspiration to first advocate for aquatic self rescue and inevitably my pursuit to certification in Infant Swim Rescue.
